Vaux-sur-Mer, the
path of the Customs Officers, from the beach of Nauzan
to the beach of
Saint-Sordelin
The path of the Customs
officers is the path which …
Let us stop there and let us leave the
beach of Vaux-sur-Mer and go towards Pontaillac.
It is a pleasant walk
along this path which dominates the
sea.
One discovers houses and villas which look like small nests.
Sometimes one comes upon a big building and can imagine, paraphrasing
Mrs de Sévigné, the shouting grandmother: " Girl, go and tell
your daughter that the daughter of your daughter has arrived with her
children …
" and one continues this sunny walk which borders the
‘domaine des Fées’ in the municipality of Vaux-sur-Mer, passing
between bushes skilfully cut by man and powerfully bent by the wind.
Soon one sees a big white villa with lowered blinds ; inside can be
found, perhaps, a swimming pool lined with exotic trees.
One can imagine
the presence of an emir protecting his harem from inquisitive looks
…
But let us stop this rambling and note in passing, all those
Mediterranean plant species which emphasise the long periods of strong
sunshine on the path of the Customs officers on the Coast of Beauty,
hawthorn, centaur plants, marguerites, heliantheme of the Apennines,
iris felia, etc. …
It is an ideal walk to take after a good meal or in
the morning for getting back into shape.
To return, cross the domain
‘des Fées’ up to hotel de Rohan and go along the beach again.
